Return and Refund Policy

We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days from the invoice date to request a return.

To be eligible for a return, the part must be unused, in its original packaging, and in the same condition that you received it. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

If your return is accepted, we’ll send you instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted. You are responsible for returning the package which should be trackable with your chosen courier.

Damages and Issues

Please inspect your order upon delivery and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged, or if you receive the wrong item. We’ll evaluate the issue and make it right.


Exceptions / Non-Returnable Items

Certain items cannot be returned, such as:

  • Custom-made, special orders or personalised items
  • Washers, bolts and o-rings
  • Hazardous materials, flammable liquids, or gases
  • Sale items or gift cards

Exchanges

The quickest way to get the right item is to return the one you have and place a new order once the return is accepted.


European Union 14-Day Cooling-Off Period

If your order was shipped within the European Union, you are entitled to cancel or return your order within 14 days—no reason required. The item must still meet our return conditions: unused, in original packaging, with proof of purchase.


Refunds

We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
If more than 15 business days have passed since we’ve approved your return, please contact us at diesel@des.ie.

If your return is accepted, we’ll provide instructions on how and where to send your package. Please note:

  • If there is no fault with the part or the incorrect part was ordered, customers are responsible for return shipping costs.
  • Items returned without first requesting a return will not be accepted.
  • Damage caused by contaminated fuel is not covered under the manufacturer’s warranty, as it is considered an external influence rather than a defect in materials or workmanship. Refunds will not be processed where fuel contamination is present.

Diesel Engineering Services - Core Return Policy

1. Exchange Units

Certain products supplied by Diesel Engineering Services are sold on an exchange basis. This means the price of the product assumes that a suitable used component (“core”) of the same type will be returned.

2. Core Deposit

Where applicable, a core surcharge (deposit) may be charged at the time of purchase. This deposit is refundable once a suitable core unit is returned and inspected by Diesel Engineering Services.

3. Core Return Timeframe

Returned cores must be received within 30 days from the date of purchase unless otherwise agreed. Cores returned after this period may not be eligible for a refund of the core deposit.

4. Acceptable Core Condition

To qualify for a core refund, returned units must:

  • Be the same part type and model as the supplied exchange unit
  • Be returned in its original packaging
  • Be complete and assembled
  • Not be excessively damaged, modified, or dismantled
  • Not have severe corrosion, broken housings, or missing critical components

5. Non-Acceptable Cores

Core deposits may be withheld if the returned unit:

  • Is incorrect or not the same component type
  • Has been dismantled or tampered with
  • Has severe physical damage or missing parts
  • Is contaminated with excessive debris, rust, or foreign materials

6. Inspection Process

All returned cores will be inspected by our technicians. Diesel Engineering Services reserves the right to determine whether the returned unit meets the criteria for core acceptance.

7. Core Return Shipping

Customers are responsible for the cost and safe packaging of returning the core unit unless otherwise agreed. Diesel Engineering Services is not responsible for cores lost or damaged in transit.

8. Core Refund Processing

Once the returned core has been received and approved, the core deposit refund will be processed using the original payment method where possible.

9. Trade Customers

Trade account customers may have separate core return arrangements or timeframes agreed directly with Diesel Engineering Services.
